Bozena Hillyer, Counter Fraud, Compliance and Debt, Department for Work and Pensions

I joied DWP as the Director Counter Fraud, Compliance and Debt in August 2019 where I lead around 8500 people across 6 different business areas. Prior to that I had spent nearly 15 years at HMRC where I qualified as a Tax Inspector and led teams which tackled serious fraud, illegal working and tax avoidance. 

I have had a varied career starting out in the private sector with British Telecom when I first graduated, where I was a Marketing Professional –  roles included Market and Business planning and Customer Care Champion. I then had a career break to have my family and took the opportunity to tackle a number of voluntary roles in the local community.

I am an experienced senior leader with a track record of delivering change and results through a focus on People and customers. Both a Marketing and a Tax Professional I have a deep knowledge of cross government counter fraud work.

I am based in the North West where I live with my husband, a dog and a cat, I have two grown up children.’
